Montserrat Gállego Culleré is pharmacist and specialist in Microbiology and Parasitology. She obtained her doctorate in Pharmacy at the University of Barcelona (Spain) in 1986 working on small mammals parasitic mites. Since 1980 she is doing her research on leishmaniasis in Spain, mainly in the epidemiology of the disease in Catalonia and Balearic Islands. She belongs to ISGlobal as external stable and she is working at the Department of Health Microbiology and Parasitology of the University of Barcelona where she occupies a post of Profesora Titular de Universidad.
She belongs to the Imported Pathology Research Group on Emerging and re-emerging Diseases and her current lines of research are leishmaniasis and Chagas disease, having developed research projects in Spain, France, Morocco and Latin America.
