EuroLeish.net organised a successful session @ ECTMIH 2017

The session was titled: "Training on neglected tropical diseases: Are you brave or crazy?" Six PhD students presented perspectives about research training on NTDs, including three EuroLeish fellows: Aya Hefnawy, Bruno Bremer Hinckel, and Temmy Sunyoto.

17 octobre 2017

Conducting research on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) is challenging. NTDs are usually underfunded and may be a risky bet as a long-term career compared to other tropical diseases. But some young researchers still chose to enroll training programs on NTDs. Are they brave or crazy? In this session we heard the experience of young researchers currently being trained on NTDs: why did they decide to work on NTDs? Will they continue working on NTDs? At the end of the session participants debated on strategies to attract students, and further NTDs training and research.

The session was coordinated by Albert Picado, ISGlobal / FIND, and Núria Casamitjana from ISGlobal in Barcelona.
