Gert-Jan Wijnant

Following his Bachelor degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Ghent University (Belgium), Gert-Jan completed his education as a pharmacist with the Msc Pharmaceutical Care in 2014. With his interest in molecular biology and microbiology triggered during a Master Thesis in Pharmaceutical Microbiology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he decided to expand his knowledge in this field with postgraduate training in Tropical Medicine and International Health (ITM Antwerp, 2015).

After a short professional experience as a community pharmacist in Ghent, he is now excited to be working on the PhD project under Professor Croft at the LSHTM and hopes to pursue a career in global public health and infectious disease control.

Apart from his love for science, Gert-Jan's main passions are music, travelling, reading, gaming, history and politics.
